Excitation system specialists Excitation & Engineering Services (EES) has expanded its team with the appointment of five new engineers, supporting the company’s continued growth across the UK. Three of the new starters will be based at its newly opened Inverness office, bolstering local capacity and expertise in Scotland’s power generation sector, while the rest join the head office in Tamworth.
The Inverness office, established to meet the growing demand for specialist excitation expertise in Scotland’s power sector, plays a pivotal role in EES’s strategy. Among the five new engineers joining, some bring decades of hands-on experience in AVR and protection systems, while two are recent graduate electrical engineers fresh from their studies and ready to contribute.
As the energy sector adapts to increased renewable integration and evolving grid requirements, excitation system expertise remains critical for reliable power generation. The addition of these new engineers shows EES’s commitment to growing local Inverness capability and raising its national service standards.
Building on a 13-year-long presence in Scotland, the new additions will strengthen the company’s ability to support key customers in the power sector, particularly as investment in hydroelectric and long-term energy storage projects continue to grow.
“Working with EES here means I can shape the future of Scotland’s energy from the ground up,” explained Jamie Branford, Electrical Engineer at EES’s new Inverness office. “With projects like Coire Glas and new battery storage systems coming to fruition, I have the opportunity to help build a resilient, low-carbon grid that works for everyone in our community.”
The graduate programme offers new engineers the opportunity to work on complex projects and gain hands-on experience in the design, commissioning and maintenance of excitation and protection systems for synchronous machines. This initiative ensures a pipeline of skilled engineers are equipped to meet the challenges of modern power systems.
“EES’s graduate programme has given me a fantastic start to my career,” explained Lamia Saiyara, Graduate Electrical Engineer at EES. “The opportunity to learn from experienced engineers in the industry was something I couldn’t turn down.”
