ifm unveils advanced multi-protocol IO-Link Master

ifm introduces its latest innovation for industrial automation, the Multi-Protocol IO-Link master with integrated OPC UA server, AL159x. Designed to meet the evolving demands of Industry 4.0, this advanced solution combines robust performance with flexible communication to ensure seamless integration at both OT and IT levels.

The AL159x IO-Link master demonstrates exceptional versatility with its multiprotocol capability, supporting both PROFINET and EtherNet/IP. This feature streamlines connectivity across diverse control systems, reducing inventory requirements and enhancing operational flexibility.

Equipped with an integrated OPC UA server, the device enables standardised, transparent data exchange across systems, creating a foundation for predictive maintenance and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the built-in IODD interpreter translates sensor data into readable values, simplifying software-based evaluation and minimising setup times.

The AL159x further optimises system design with its daisy chain functionality, allowing fieldbus, power, and IIoT communication to be connected in series. This significantly reduces cabling complexity and installation costs, making it an ideal solution for space-constrained environments or extensive systems.

Engineered for durability, the IO-Link master is enclosed in a robust housing with IP67 certification for industrial applications and IP69K certification for the food and hygiene sector. Its dual compatibility ensures reliable performance in even the harshest conditions, catering to a wide range of industries.

Integrated with ifm’s moneo configure software, the device allows users to filter and reduce unnecessary sensor data, optimising network performance while ensuring critical data is prioritised. With enhanced data processing and efficient resource use, the AL159x supports the scalability and intelligence required for modern industrial systems.

The AL159x represents a significant step forward in bridging IT and OT infrastructures with ease, security, and functionality. Its combination of cutting-edge features and rugged design redefines connectivity solutions for businesses striving for efficiency and automation in Industry 4.0 landscapes
