Advantech Unveils Arm®SystemReady IR certified TPC-100W Series Panel PC set to revolutionise Industrial IoT

A new benchmark for industrial IoT deployments Enhanced protection against unauthorised code execution and firmware attacks Personalised demonstrations available

Advantech, a global leader in intelligent systems and edge computing solutions, is pleased to announce a groundbreaking achievement in advancing IoT interoperability. Their Arm-Based HMI TPC-100W series, featuring NXP’s i.MX 8M Mini quad-core processor, has achieved.

Arm® SystemReady IR Certification.

This milestone not only showcases Advantech’s commitment to delivering standardised, reliable, and easily integrated solutions but also marks a significant leap in ensuring Arm-based Panel PCs are interoperable and compliant with industry standards, setting a new benchmark for industrial IoT deployments.

Reinforcing Security in Industrial IoT

The TPC-100W series now includes Secure Boot as part of its certification requirements, providing enhanced protection against unauthorised code execution and firmware attacks. This security feature uses Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), a sophisticated system of digital certificates, asymmetric encryption, and a certificate authority (CA). PKI ensures that only verified, trusted software is executed during the boot process, defending against malicious code and preserving system integrity. In today’s industrial environment, where cybersecurity threats are constant, this advanced security measure is essential for protecting critical operations and sensitive data.

Enhancing Interoperability and Standardisation

The Arm® SystemReady IR certification guarantees the TPC-100W series adheres to strict industry standards, ensuring seamless integration with various software and hardware environments. A key feature of this certification is the support for UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), which standardises the boot process, minimising compatibility issues and simplifying IoT deployments. UEFI ensures consistent, reliable startups, essential for industrial applications requiring high uptime and fast recovery.

Flexibility in Operating System Support

The Arm® System Ready IR certification enables the TPC-100W series to support multiple operating systems, including Linux Yocto, Ubuntu, Debian and others. This broad OS support is made possible by ensuring compatibility standardised boot processes and hardware interfaces. By following these standards, the TPC-100W series can efficiently run different operating systems with minimal need for customisation. With standard Linux distributions, the series integrates seamlessly with existing eco-systems, enabling automatic, real-time security updates. This allows developers to focus on building domain-specific applications, speeding up time-to-market and reducing overall project costs for Advantech’s clients.
