TriLite Appoints Mario Spiegl as CEO to Drive Next Phase of Growth

Outgoing CEO Dr. Peter Weigand transitions to advisory role

TriLite, the world’s leading provider of laser beam scanner (LBS) display technology for augmented reality (AR) and automotive applications, today announced that Mario Spiegl will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2025. Spiegl, a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of international leadership experience in consumer electronics and automotive supply chains, previously held senior roles at Foxconn, Knowles, and NXP. He succeeds Dr. Peter Weigand, who will transition to an advisor role supporting the company’s ongoing fundraising activities and investor relations.

Mario Spiegl, who has served as TriLite’s Chief Commercial Officer since January 2025, will continue to oversee sales and marketing while broadening his remit to lead the company’s global strategy, investor engagement, and organizational development. To strengthen commercial execution, TriLite is also creating a new position, Director of Commercial Operations, to support Spiegl and accelerate market traction.

“Being given the opportunity to serve as CEO of TriLite is both humbling and exciting. I want to thank Peter for his outstanding leadership in building TriLite into the company it is today. I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished so far, and I look forward to working closely with our customers, partners and our exceptional team as we lead TriLite into its next chapter of execution and growth,” said Mario Spiegl.

Under Dr. Weigand’s leadership, TriLite became the #1 provider of LBS displays for AR and automotive applications. Key milestones include:

  • Trixel® 3, the world’s smallest, brightest LBS display with industry-leading power efficiency and image quality.
  • Establishment of automated production infrastructure to support high-volume manufacturing.
  • Securing more than €22 million in Series A funding from world-class deep tech investors and strategic partners.

“I would like to thank TriLite’s shareholders and team for their outstanding support and everything we have achieved together. It has been an incredible journey to lead TriLite from its early beginnings to becoming the #1 provider of laser beam scanner displays. As I transition into an advisory role, I look forward to supporting TriLite in its next chapter and I am excited to have Mario on board with his unique experience to drive TriLite towards the next growth phase,” said Dr. Peter Weigand.

The leadership transition comes as TriLite prepares for its next growth phase, scaling product revenues and advancing toward fundraising and strategic options. In the coming months, Spiegl will meet with global customers and partners, while TriLite readies a market announcement on the Trixel® 3 Cube, designed for seamless integration into consumer AR glasses.

“On behalf of the shareholder committee, I would like to thank Peter for his outstanding leadership and his pivotal role in establishing TriLite as the world’s leading LBS company, and I look forward to working with Mario Spiegl as our new CEO. His international track record and deep market expertise will be instrumental in scaling TriLite’s commercial activities and accelerating global growth as we enter this exciting new phase,” said Dr. Wolfgang Neubert, Chairman of the Shareholder Committee and Partner at APEX Ventures.
