WEG to Showcase Advanced Motor and Drive Solutions at ONS Norway 2024

WEG demonstrates how it can support Norway’s energy ambitions

WEG, a global leader in motor and drive technology, will exhibit at ONS Norway 2024, a hub for energy, technology and sustainability. Attendees can visit WEG in hall two, stand 2260 from August 26 to 29, where the company will present its latest products, including the W23 Sync+ Ultra motor, W22X Ex d(e) motor, Motion Fleet Management, automation panels, specialist marine motors from Rotor, WEG Motor Scan and WG20 geared motors.

ONS Norway is a prominent energy industry event held biennially in Stavanger, Norway. Recognised for its comprehensive conference program and extensive exhibition, ONS Norway acts as a platform for industry leaders, innovators and policymakers to exchange ideas, explore new technologies and create partnerships.

At the WEG stand, key products on display will include the W23 Sync+ Ultra motor. The W23 Sync+ Ultra motor combines permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets, and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor technologies. The W23 Sync+ Ultra motor boasts an energy efficiency rating of IE6 and therefore meets and surpasses European Ecodesign regulations which are currently required to meet IE3 or IE4 standard, ensuring reduced energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions.

WEG will also exhibit the W22X Ex d(e) motor, designed for hazardous environments. With a flameproof enclosure, it ensures safe operation in areas with flammable gases or dust. This motor offers high performance, efficiency and versatility with both increased safety (Ex e) and flameproof (Ex d) configurations. Its durable construction, optimised cooling system and resistance to corrosion make it reliable for demanding industrial applications.

WEG’s Motion Fleet Management system will also be showcased, providing insights into asset monitoring and maintenance. The system uses cloud computing, IoT technology and the WEG Motor Scan sensor device to deliver real-time data and predictive maintenance capabilities, ultimately reducing downtime and operational costs. This solution ensures increased system availability and extended motor lifespan.

The exhibit will also feature automation panels and for the first time will include specialist marine motors from Rotor, part of the WEG group, a leading supplier of electric motors designed for harsh marine environments

Finally, WEG will present the WG20 geared motors, known for their versatility and efficiency in various industrial applications. These motors provide a compact and flexible drive solution, ideal for both centralised and decentralised systems.

“ONS Norway is an excellent opportunity for us to present our advanced motor and drive technologies while engaging with industry leaders,” said Anders Näzell, managing director at WEG Scandinavia. “Norway’s energy sector is known for its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Our products, such as the W23 Sync+ Ultra and Motion Fleet Management, are designed to meet these high standards, offering enhanced efficiency, reliability and reduced operational costs. By showcasing these solutions at ONS, we aim to demonstrate how WEG’s technology can support Norway’s energy ambitions and provide robust solutions for the local market’s unique challenges, such as harsh marine environments and stringent safety requirements.”
