Global motor manufacturer, WEG, has announced a strategic shift in its sales approach to better serve its customers in Scandinavia. Implemented since March 1, 2024, this transition represents a move from product group sales representatives to offering a comprehensive product portfolio through a single point of contact. The company aims to build stronger customer relationships by providing tailored solutions, including its popular WEGmotion Drives packages, to cater to diverse customer needs.

The decision was driven by WEG’s commitment to providing holistic support to customers. Recognising the need to assist clients with a diverse range of products, from low-voltage motors to high-voltage frequency inverters (VFDs), WEG has chosen to equip its local sales team in Scandinavia with knowledge across the entire product spectrum, as opposed to specialising in a specific product range.

“WEG Scandinavia holds a strategic position in supporting the region’s ambitions for increased energy efficiency and productivity,” explained Anders Näzell, Managing Director at WEG Scandinavia. “Over the years, we’ve identified a growing emphasis on these goals, driving our commitment to offering solutions that align with our customers’ aspirations. By integrating multiple WEG products that complement each other, customers are more likely to achieve their energy efficiency and productivity goals.

“With this new sales approach, we can better uphold strong customer relationships by eliminating the need to switch between sales representatives. This ensures seamless communication and tailored solutions, precisely addressing individual customer needs.”

In 2023, WEG significantly invested in its Scandinavian branch, expanding its workforce by hiring numerous engineers and skilled professionals for both internal and external sales departments. This investment has led to the branch being well-equipped to execute the single point of contact strategy.

To prepare the sales team further, WEG Scandinavia has invested in comprehensive training programs. Business development managers have undergone extensive training at WEG’s facilities in Austria and Portugal, covering various product segments, including motors and VFDs.

Moreover, ongoing online training sessions and support from technical experts ensure that sales teams remain up to date with the latest developments, including the WEGmotion Drive package.

WEGmotion Drives is an integrated package that combines motors, gearboxes, drives, and digital solutions to enhance manufacturing plant productivity. This initiative aligns with WEG’s commitment to delivering reliability, precision, control, operational intelligence, and efficiency to industries.

“We’ve always prioritised customer satisfaction and responsiveness. This transition reflects our dedication to meeting evolving market demands and addressing specific industry requirements,” Näzell added. “We anticipate to not only strengthen our position in the market but also to improve the overall customer experience in the region.”
