Marking its fourth consecutive exhibit, micro drive system supplier Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) will attend Medical Technology Ireland, taking place September 24 to 25 at Galway Racecourse, Ireland. Exhibiting from stand 78, EMS will showcase a selection of high precise motion solutions that serve the industry, including demonstrations of FAULHABER’s DC brushless servomotors and stepper motors.
Medical Technology Ireland is Europe’s second largest med-tech show, with more than 2,000 visitors and over 350 suppliers. With huge success supplying motors for many medical applications, EMS is back at the show for a fourth year to showcase motion solutions that address medical device design challenges.
As the exclusive distributor of FAULHABER products for the UK and Ireland, EMS will showcase several drive system solutions. The unique features of the FAULHABER 1660 series of brushless motors are well-suited to the demands of modern medical devices. With a diameter of 16mm, the compact size and high-power density are ideal for handheld surgical hand tools and dental handpieces, where ergonomic design and performance are equally critical.
Additionally, excellent thermal efficiency supports continuous operation in sterilised or enclosed environments, making it a reliable choice for surgical robots, diagnostic devices and other mission-critical medical technologies. Together, this enables OEMs to design compact, highly responsive systems that meet the growing performance demands of the medical sector.
Also on display is FAULHABER’s new stepper motor 3248 series, completing the existing range that starts at just 6mm in diameter — perfect for small, high precision applications. As stepper motors move in incremental steps, they enable accurate control without the need for external feedback in many cases. This makes them ideal for devices including syringe pumps and dosing systems where precise volume control or positioning is essential.
“Each year we attend Med-Tech Ireland, we see how much rapid change takes place in the industry,” said Dave Walsha, sales and marketing director at EMS. “This, we find, is mainly fuelled by a unique set of challenges across the design and manufacturing stages, with a constant need for improved performance, accuracy and robustness all within an ever-tightening space.
“Aside from this, the industry faces increasing demands for miniaturisation, enhanced accuracy and reliable performance in compact form,” continued Walsha. “We aim to highlight how micro drive solutions can address these engineering challenges and support the development of next-generation medical technologies.”
