Gen technology specialist Metatech acquired by TXP

Deal supports scale-up of leading UK digital transformation and resourcing solutions business

Metatech Solutions Ltd. (Metatech), a specialist software company focused on automated Gen modernisation and migration solutions has been acquired, for an undisclosed sum, by TXP (Technology x People), the digital transformation and technology resourcing solutions business. TXP is backed by Aliter Capital, the private equity buy and build specialist in the UK support services sector.

Metatech now becomes part of the TXP, delivering IT consulting, technology development and people resourcing to a diversified blue chip customer base.

Newcastle based Metatech offers highly-specialist IT automation solutions for Gen, the model-based development CASE (Computer-Aided Software Engineering) tool.  Metatech’s proprietary suite of automation tooling, called ‘MigrationWorks’, supports the key technical stages of a Gen legacy modernisation project. This enables accelerated analysis and conversion of business critical Gen application portfolios to more modern platforms, including Cobol, Java and C# .NET. Broader capabilities include strategic IT modernisation roadmap consultancy, automated Gen model re-architecture and Gen tooling integration solutions.

In recent years, Metatech’s work has been within the public, financial services, insurance, healthcare, aviation, automotive, telco and system integrator sectors, both in the UK and internationally. The firm has established a leading reputation in the automated Gen legacy modernisation and migration space, working on major global IT projects, including regular collaborations with (new brand).

As part of its portfolio of investments in the UK support services sector Aliter Capital has, in recent years, invested significantly and successfully in the ICT services sector. With a considerable body of knowledge, understanding and experience gained in the sector, the team at Aliter is now focused on working with and supporting TXP to grow the business, including further acquisition activity.

John Antunes, CEO, TXP, said, “This acquisition comes at an ideal time for both businesses. We know the team at Metatech very well and so we know how much this deal will broaden TXP’s existing credentials, adding unique automated solutions, scarce technical skillsets, knowledge and experience. Moving forward, this specialist know-how will be a vital element in delivering significant pipeline projects, as well as generating a wealth of new business opportunities.”

Metatech’s senior management team is led by Andy Scott, who is remaining with the business to work closely with Antunes, to support further growth of the business.

Andy Scott, director, Metatech said, “We have seen rapidly increasing demand for modernising legacy IT systems and we believe there is a very positive outlook for the Gen conversion market. Metatech’s proven track record and unique technology solutions will place the group in a strong position to benefit from this growing demand and the business opportunities it will create.  We look forward to working with John and the TXP team in the next phase of the business’s development.”
