Cogent Distribution and Kymata Solve Leaky Feeder Conundrum

For years, UK industry has been looking for effective cable-based distribution of RF signal, known as leaky feeder cable, and the problem has always been that it doesn’t work effectively over distance. Today, (23rd September 2024) Cogent Distribution Ltd has welcomed leading Italian manufacturer of Kymata amplifiers and distributed antenna systems (DAS) to their vendor portfolio, becoming master distributor for the UK and Ireland, bringing Kymata’s ground-breaking DAS cable solution to the market.

The Kymata brand is a patented and revolutionary wireless transmission system that overcomes the limitations found in conventional leaky feeder/DAS cable solutions. This offers the industrial and logistics sectors a vastly more effective method of allowing connectivity, especially in hard-to-reach locations or hazardous work environments.

Cogent Distribution’s MD Jim Kernahan said: “Our company’s aim is to find and market new technology solutions that, with our understanding of the needs of our customers, we know will be successful and give our customers the leading edge. For that reason, we’re delighted to add Kymata’s innovative wireless technologies to our expanding portfolio.

Jim continued: “Kymata solutions can be used in automated logistics warehouses, dangerous working environments like oil refineries requiring ATEX equipment, ports utilising RTGs and AVGs, deep freeze storage facilities, data centres, and tunnel infrastructure for roads and rail. The Kymata range enables you to site your equipment in a safe place and with the signal being evenly distributed to where it needs to be. Case studies have shown up to a 60% reduction in the number of wireless access points needed to provide Wi-Fi coverage, saving substantially on project costs.”

Kymata is a registered trademark of technology provider Guglielmo, headquartered in Reggio Emilia, Italy and led by CEO Giovanni Guerri who added: “We are all very excited about the opportunity to work together with Cogent Distribution and bring Kymata wire antennas and Wi-Fi amplifiers to the UK market.

“Our company has a wealth of experience gained from years of research and work on complex projects and for us, the new connectivity-based ecosystems represent the ideal field in which to demonstrate our expertise. The result is our range of Kymata products, which have come about as our way of responding to the needs of modern logistics and industry.”
