Strong, controllable, reliable: Electromagnets and permanent electromagnets from norelem

norelem is expanding their product selection with high-performance electromagnets and permanent electromagnets for the secure fixing of ferromagnetic workpieces. The products are geared towards applications that require strong clamping forces, precise controllability and exceptional reliability – in areas ranging from automation to safety technology.

While serving the same purpose, electromagnets and permanent electromagnets differ in their energy consumption and clamping characteristics.

The magnetic field in electromagnets is generated by continuous direct current, allowing for instantaneous control over the clamping force and switching status via the current. They deliver an extremely strong clamping force but release immediately once the current supply is interrupted.

Conversely, permanent electromagnets clamp without continuous current and require energy to degauss or increase the magnetic field. Retaining their clamping force even when the power fails, they are particularly well-suited for permanent clamping applications.

Strong and controllable – energy efficient and secure
Grouped into four product families in the new product segment of “Electromagnets”, all electromagnets offered by norelem are available with a round and a rectangular design:

They are attached via tapped holes on the reverse side. The electrical connection is established, respectively, via available strands and EN 175301-803 (formerly DIN 43650) connectors in the round and in the rectangular design.

Typical fields of application are magnetic locks in safety technology, materials handling in mechanical engineering, and gripper solutions in automation. A safety data sheet is available at norelem’s web shop.
