TSC Auto ID Broadens Versatility of TH Series Desktop Printer by Integrating RFID Functionality

New capabilities added including new ribbon cartridge for healthcare model

To meet the growing deployment of RAIN RFID technology, TSC Auto ID has expanded the inherent capabilities of its TH Series 4-inch desktop label printers by not only building in RAIN (UHF Passive) RFID functionality but also enhancing usability.

“Up until now, RFID functionality on the 4-inch TH Series was only available as a plug and play upgrade but having it built in means customers can immediately start capitalising on the many benefits that RFID brings like improved traceability and data visibility,” says Bob Vines, TSC Auto ID’s Country Manager for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics.

Other new capabilities added to the TH Series further increase its usability and effectiveness at printing diverse and unique media. They include:

  • Encode during print: enhances printer throughput by encoding RFID labels directly rather than needing a separate encoding process
  • Support for diverse labels: supports different constructions, including on-metal labels.
  • RFID auto-calibration: automatically configures the printer for accurate and optimal RFID encoding and printing.

“RFID functionality is not the only thing we’ve added to the TH240THC, our rugged healthcare version of the TH Series that is encased in white, antimicrobial, easy-to-disinfect plastic,“ says Bob. “We’ve recognised that healthcare workers need to maintain clean environments, so have developed a new ribbon cartridge for the TH240THC that allows users to change the ribbon without coming into contact with messy wax and resin. The printers have been specially modified to accommodate the new cartridge, ensuring hassle-free and mess-free installation.“

The TH Series printer is already proving a popular choice for organisations to scale up applications to meet present and future operational needs. These new capabilities only add to its versatility, enabling businesses to conquer many and varied label challenges with ease.
