ABAX UK Reveals Scotplant 2026 Data: Majority of Site Operators Lack Critical Asset Visibility

ABAX UK, a leading provider of telematics and smart mobility solutions, has released key insights from Scotplant 2026, revealing that a significant majority of UK site and plant operators are contending with major operational blind spots due to untracked assets.

Analysis of data from nearly 70 unique industry firms engaged at the event shows that 63% do not use any form of tracking for high-value plant machinery, vehicles, or trailers. This widespread lack of visibility exposes businesses to significant risks, including asset loss, inefficient servicing schedules, and an inability to verify asset location for security or billing purposes.

The data also highlights tool and equipment loss as a critical financial drain. According to the findings, 24% of industry professionals—nearly one in four—cited the constant loss of power tools as a primary and costly business frustration.

The analysis further indicated that these concerns are now a key focus for senior leadership, with 58% of the conversations being held with company Directors, Owners, and senior Managers who are targeting these issues to improve their bottom line.

“The data gathered at Scotplant is incredibly telling. It confirms that businesses are dealing with very tangible operational headaches, from the strategic risk of untracked machinery to the daily frustration of tool loss,” says Anna Edwards, Global Marketing Excellence Manager at ABAX. “Our role is to show them that this data can be harnessed. We’re focused on translating these problems into clear, actionable insights on a single platform, giving our customers the power to become more efficient and profitable.”

ABAX is using this data to continue enhancing its ABAX Smart Operations platform, ensuring it directly addresses the real-world challenges of asset-first visibility, workflow optimisation, and loss prevention for the mixed fleets that power UK industry.
