IT & Security Collaboration Is the Missing Weapon in Cyber Defense

JumpCloud Inc. has launched new research, “Stronger Together: Why IT-Security Collaboration Drives Greater Security and Efficiency.” The report is based on a survey of 100 security leaders. It emphasizes the urgent need for IT and security teams to collaborate. Together, they can address the rising complexity and fragmentation of cybersecurity tools.

Security can’t succeed without IT. 91% of security professionals consider collaboration with IT critical to their security strategy. Meanwhile, 45% of respondents say fragmented tools create blind spots and inefficiencies. Complex systems are more than hard to manage — they’re a liability.

“In today’s complex threat landscape, collaboration between IT and security is essential,” said Robert Phan, Chief Information Security Officer, JumpCloud. “This report highlights the real-world challenges that organizations face when they’re siloed. By combining forces, IT and security create resilience and efficiency that no standalone team can achieve.”

Key findings from the report include:

  • Unified IT and security tools boost productivity. 100% of respondents who saw productivity as a benefit of unifying tools believed it would improve productivity by at least 25%.
  • Fragmented tools are failing organizations. Less than 10% of respondents believe current IT and security tools meet their needs.
  • Unified systems aren’t a luxury — they’re a necessity. Two out of three security leaders think that unified IT-security tools greatly boost visibility and control.
