KuppingerCole Recognises SailPoint as Identity and Access Governance Leader

New KuppingerCole Leadership Compass lists SailPoint as Overall Leader, Product Leader, Innovation Leader, and Market Leader

SailPoint Technologies, Inc., a leader in unified identity security for enterprises, today announced that the company achieved a clean sweep in the latest Leadership Compass Identity and Access Governance (IAG) report from KuppingerCole Analysts. SailPoint was named an Overall Leader, Product Leader, Innovation Leader, and Market Leader, earning “Leader” status, the highest status a vendor can achieve, within all four areas of consideration. The Leadership Compass report provides an overview of vendors within the IAG market and the specific products and services they offer, grading the strength of their offerings within a series of categories to provide CISOs and security leaders with the practical, relevant information they need to determine which vendors can best suit their IAG needs.

SailPoint received the highest score in Overall Leadership, highlighting the company’s all-around functionality, market presence, and financial security, outpacing other prominent names in the IAG space. SailPoint’s IAG capabilities received a “Strong Positive” rating across all scoring categories (Security, Functionality, Deployment, Interoperability, and Usability), underscoring SailPoint’s ability to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded IAG solution.

Additionally, the report noted that SailPoint scored the best in the innovation leadership category because of the company’s heavy investment in emerging capabilities. The Leadership Compass report lists SailPoint’s ability to leverage AI and machine learning as among its key strengths, citing automated application onboarding, access insights, access request recommendations, access reviews, certification recommendations, and access modeling as key features.

“KuppingerCole’s Leadership Compass reports are an invaluable resource for today’s businesses, and it is always an honour to be recognised as a leader in the identity space,” said Matt Mills, President, SailPoint. “The digital world is becoming increasingly interconnected, and modern businesses need a solution capable of evolving alongside the changing threat landscape, allowing them to manage and secure their identity and access needs in a dynamic and agile manner. SailPoint doesn’t just offer industry-leading solutions and support—we’re always looking for new ways to innovate. Our new AI and machine learning capabilities are helping users automate time-consuming tasks, driving significant efficiency gains. This allows organisations to reallocate resources to high-impact, strategic initiatives, while positioning SailPoint customers for success in the next generation of identity security.”

The KuppingerCole report calls SailPoint a “leading vendor in the IGA market,” and praises the company’s “excellent support for identity and role lifecycle management.” The report further notes that SailPoint’s increased focus on leveraging AI and machine learning has led to significant advancements in automation, including generative AI-based entitlement descriptions, access recommendations, and access modeling. SailPoint is already using AI capabilities to assist with making smart access decisions, defining roles, detecting and remediating outliers, and identifying anomalous activity, leading to a more streamlined experience that reduces tedious and repetitive tasks and liberates security and IT professionals for more critical functions.

SailPoint’s ability to provide both a multi-tenant SaaS solution (SailPoint Identity Security Cloud) and an on-premises solution (SailPoint IdentityIQ) drew praise, as did the wide range of out-of-the-box provisioning connectors for both on-premises and SaaS systems. Additionally, the report cites SailPoint’s fully customisable workflow engine built on low-code/no-code principles, enabling a user-friendly interface that allows customers to use a drag-and-drop system to visualise data and logic flows. By prioritising automation and ease of use, SailPoint’s IAG offerings provide strong core functionality while also allowing users to tailor their solution to meet their specific needs.
