Global logistics leader CEVA overhauls digital backbone to strengthen supply chain resilience

CEVA Logistics (CEVA), part of the CMA CGM Group, has modernised its global digital infrastructure by partnering with WSO2, a leader in open‑source API management and integration technologies. CEVA operates one of the industry’s largest and most complex logistics networks, spanning contract logistics, air, ocean and ground transport, and end‑to‑end supply chain solutions across more than 160 countries. To support this scale, CEVA required a unified digital backbone capable of improving agility, ensuring reliability, and accelerating innovation across its global operations.

Breaking Down Operational Silos Across Four Business Units

CEVA previously operated four independent business units, each running on distinct technology frameworks. This fragmentation created operational silos that limited visibility, slowed decision‑making, and increased risks and costs across critical processes such as transportation planning, warehouse operations and last‑mile delivery. With rising customer expectations, tightening SLAs, and continued pressure for rapid fulfilment, CEVA needed to consolidate its API strategy into a single, standardised, enterprise‑wide platform.

A key priority was the creation of a modern API management and governance framework that would unify systems, streamline data exchange, accelerate partner onboarding, and support the company’s five‑year IT strategy. This required a platform capable of handling massive global scale while remaining secure, compliant and cost‑efficient.

A Unified API Platform Powered by WSO2

To deliver this transformation, CEVA adopted WSO2 API Manager as the foundation for managing its internal and external API ecosystems. Today, the platform supports 300 million API transactions every month, powering essential logistics functions including order management, shipment tracking, warehouse management and integrations with third‑party carriers.

For specialised departmental needs, CEVA uses WSO2’s Kubernetes Gateway to deploy isolated, Kubernetes‑native gateways that align with microservices architectures where appropriate. A centralised global integration team oversees onboarding and DevOps, ensuring reliability across all API operations, critical for meeting strict SLAs. WSO2 also provides enterprise support, helping CEVA maintain high performance across its multi‑region footprint.

CEVA selected WSO2 for its flexible open‑source model, strong performance at scale and ability to avoid vendor lock‑in. The partnership now extends beyond deployment into long‑term architectural planning as CEVA continues to evolve its digital ecosystem.

Results & Impact

By unifying its API strategy with WSO2, CEVA has strengthened its operational resilience and accelerated digital transformation across its global supply chain.

  • Increased service reliability: Consistent governance and security across more than 800 APIs enable CEVA to meet strict SLAs, minimise costly disruptions and maintain customer trust.
  • Accelerated onboarding: Self‑service developer portals and standardised processes have reduced integration timelines, cutting time‑to‑market for new services and partners.
  • Future‑ready scalability: A unified, cloud‑native API platform supports CEVA’s growth without downtime, ensuring seamless logistics operations worldwide.
  • Enhanced customer experience: Faster, more connected and more reliable digital services improve the overall delivery experience and reinforce CEVA’s position as a trusted global logistics partner.
