Frontier Model Forum NOT AI’s “silver bullet” -says AI and ML expert

Following the formation of the Frontier Model Forum, aimed to promote the safe and responsible development of AI, by OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and Anthropic, Richard Bownes from Kin + Carta commented

“The Frontier Model Forum won’t be the silver bullet for assuaging legitimate concerns about the AI development race – but it helps set a precedent towards greater care and awareness. While some element of regulation is necessary, it’s crucial that businesses understand what the risks are with emerging technologies. It is their responsibility.

“AI is a tool. It’s not inherently good or bad. The safe and responsible use of AI comes from fully understanding that tool and the outsized impact it can have. Knowing and deeply understanding that impact and its consequences on a case by case basis will impact the safety of AI much more than any governing body will.”
