NEXT Biometrics receives first mass production order from Sri Lanka to enable secure self-serve kiosk transactions

NEXT Biometrics, the world leader in advanced high-security fingerprint sensor technology, has secured its first mass production from a new customer in Sri Lanka, C3 Labs. The order, for NEXT Basalt FAP 20 sensors, will see strong authentication integrated into kiosk machines for leading service provider in Sri Lanka. The stand-alone booths enable users to perform trusted self-service transactions.

“This collaboration with C3 Labs is not only an innovative use case, working to help busy people to move money quickly and securely, it is our first project in Sri Lanka,” says Joshua Chiu, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales South-East Asia. “This new partnership shows the growing trust in our Basalt FAP 20 solution across use cases and a growing number of countries.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with NEXT, bringing their cutting-edge high-security authentication technology into our self-service kiosks and factory production tracking hardware, proudly designed and built in Sri Lanka. This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing security and operational efficiency, and we look forward to extending this collaboration into new applications in the future.” adds Husni Nazeer, Head of Engineering & Production at C3 Labs.

This is a new design win for NEXT with deliveries scheduled to start in Q4 2025. The initial order is small, but long term this has volume potential in multiple products.

NEXT’s Active Thermal® technology uses both heat from the finger and 3D imaging to authenticate the user. This enables superior authentication speed and liveness detection to combat spoofing attacks, when compared with other fingerprint authentication technologies. The product also minimizes energy consumption and delivers exceptional performance in varying light and environmental conditions.

Over the last 25 years, NEXT Biometrics has shipped more than 10 million sensors. Its Active Thermal® technologies are certified by entities including Aadhaar, FBI-PIV, MOSIP Compliance and NIBSS, and have been implemented in countries including Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, U.S. and Vietnam.
